Why is pre-cooling important for your farm?
Pre-cooling is important for a lot of dairy farms trying to chill milk. Both from efficiency and milk quality and also maintaining a high standard of hygiene that NZ dairy farms are known for. For milk quality and hygiene reasons pre-cooling your milk before it gets to the vat is critical because while you milk is above 10 degrees bacteria growth is extremely high once milk drops below 10 degrees it almost stops and once below 6 degrees there is no growth. So this means that if you can get your milk entering the vat below 10 degrees or even at 6 this will ensure a much better quality of milk.
Save up to 50% on refrigeration and hot water heating costs with Dairy Chill's pre-cooling systems.
Pre-cooling of the milk is also important to the farm due to power costs and using less energy with Dairy Chill's pre-cooling systems most farms will save up to 50% on refrigeration and hot water heating costs, this is due to the fact that with a Dairy Chill system every degree you chill milk before it gets to the vat is 30% refrigeration power used than chilling it once it is in the vat this is due to the vat set up and the extra heat load once you mix the milk and store it in the same place, so if you add the power over 10 degrees of chilling in the vat compared to pre-cooling this is a massive saving.
